Luronium Natans Alisma Natans, Floating Water Plantain

Luronium Natans commonly known as Alisma Natans or Floating Water Plantain is a native marginal plant.

This unusual, rare plant has oval leaves that float on the water surface when grown in shallow water, but narrow long leaves in deeper areas.

It flowers prolifically when very shallow or on bare mud, with little white flowers and a yellow centre.

Remove flower heads soon after flowering to encourage new flowers and prevent self seeding. Trim old foliage after dying back in Autumn
