Description

Slate is available in smaller or large sizes (20 or 40mm). We offer it in shades of Green, Plum, Blue and Black. Slate chippings will lay flat, it's also reflective and offers strong intense colours to lift reinforce your scheme. Many of these items are available in the same shades as other larger items which when used together introduce texture and variation.

When used in pond construction they offer low maintenance and year round stability to your project and will keep looking good for years to come. They offer stability, colour and interest to your composition which is always useful when planting dies back for the winter. They always look good when wet so can be used in waterfalls and other water features to cover liners. All the products we sell are fish friendly so can be used freely in your project.

They can also be used for topping pots, including marginal pond planting, weed suppression and pathways. As a guide to quantities it is recommended that they are applied to a depth of at least 35mm to give adequate coverage. Some of the larger sizes may need more depending on the overall look required. Larger pebbles on their own are not recommended for pathways as they can be difficult to walk on and risk injury. All aggregate products have varying amounts of naturally occurring residual dust/residue; it is recommended that if placing in ponds / water features then the stones should be washed first.

Size, Colour and Dust information

Sizing: Please note all decorative aggregates are quarried. The size of the product can vary and, in most cases, will be larger than expected. All sizes quoted are only an approximate indication.

Colour: Natural products may show some colour variations due to natural changes in rock formation which are beyond our control. We take every measure to keep this to a minimum, but variations are to be expected.

Dust: All quarried decorative gravels will contain a certain amount of dust this is caused either by the blasting or digging at the quarries.

The dust can be cleared by simply hosing the materials once laid or letting nature take its course by letting the dust wash away over time with rain fall.
